Gender Identity

The term Gender Identity describes an individual’s perception of who they are; whether they consider themselves to be a man, a woman, or transgender, among others. Western society has traditionally operated using a binary Gender Identity system, wherein anyone who did not identify with being a male or female was considered abnormal/ irregular. As society has become more openminded, the emergence of newer, more defined gender identities has occurred.
